Vegetarianism WORLD CELEBRITIES ON THE EVILS OF MEAT EATING Emperor
Akbar : (In
the Aini Akbari of Abdul Fazal ) Swami Vivekananda : "Meat eating is uncivilized and vegetarian diet is proper for religious life". Count Leotolstoy: "Meat eating multiplies gross thoughts. It produces lust and induces drinking and adultery. Therefore it is impossible for a meat eater to be normally good. If all men give up meat eating, political wars and law suits can easily be avoided". Charles Darwin : In olden days vegetarians were more numerous. I wonder how i fail to ralise till now that the workers in the woods of Chille who were purely vegetarians were extraordinarily strong and healthy. Abraham Lincon: "I care not much for man's religion whose dogs and cats are not the better for it. After all one meaning of life is to be kind". Voltaire: "Men fed upon carnage and drinking a strong drinks have all impoisoned and acrid blood which drives them mad in a hundered different ways". Comrade
Lenin : "I
am now engaged in normal self perfection. I do not take meat any more.
I now eat rice pudding". " At the present time the situation is rapidly increasing population and decreasing fertile land. Fertility is also decreasing through the indiscriminate use of artificial fertilisers, which may give an increased yield for a new years, but lead to a loss of fertility and solid erosion. It is estimated that there is one acre of fertile land per person in the world available for good production of all kinds. Aflesh eater needs 1.63 acres. A vegetarian needs .5 to .6 acres. (In a country of low productivity these figures would be slightly higher ) Of the 1.63 acres required by a flesh eater 1.3 acres are needed solely to provide flesh foods. The smaller area needed for the vegetarian included a certain amount of dairy products. So we see that any one insisting on flesh food is taking more than his fare share of the land is, in fact, condemning some of his fellow men to a starvation diet. George
Bernard Shaw: CELEBRATED POETS Shakespeare: "Do pray for mercy and that some prayer doeth teach us all to render the deeds of mercy. H.W.Longfellow: "That man I honour and revere, who without favour, without fear, in the great city dares to stand, the friend of every friendless beast". The Pope : "One all extending, all preserving soul, connects each being greatest with the beast, made beast in aid of man, and man of beast, All served, all serving nothing stands alone. Percy
Hill : (Poet
Laureate of England) Our
watchward is compassion and all sub-human life looks to our ranks to save
them from lance, gun and knife. Bally : Kindness is wisdom and there is none in life but needs it and may learn. Poet Shelly : With all the sincerity that exists in hopes for the human race, I beg all those who desire the welfare of mankind and who love truth to impartially examine the vegetarian theories. Mahatma Gandhi : I hold flesh food to be unsuited to our species. Vegetarianism is one of the priceless gifts of our religion. Abstention from meat is undoubteldly, a great aid to the evolution of spirit. The Venible Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya : "When we are powerless to impart life to any creature, we have no rights to deprive of its life, But when in-spite of that man does so, it is nothing but an atrocious and high handed and a great sin on his part.
