RAJA DRIVES BACK HOME
PRESS RELEASE
He was about to be slaughtered for meat. It was his luck that
our Wildlife Rehabilitator and Senior Manager’s eyes fell on the
hapless chap. It took a couple of days and innumerable
persuasions with the Forest Department, Police Departments and
the people who had him in their custody to get his life back on
track.
He’s Raja. Our friend first and an animal next. A majestic camel
from the deserts of Rajasthan, Raja, as he was christened here,
ruled our hearts true to his name. He took us along a journey
through a very tough period, both for himself and for us. It
took us days to understand him, and it took him weeks to
understand our conditions.
Today, Raja is free. He’s now on his journey back home to meet
his family and friends. It gave us great pleasure in getting him
ready for his journey back home. And when the time came to say
bye, our tongues were tied. He had ruled our hearts and minds
for the greater part of this year. He made us believe we could
help him. He made us believe that camels can be as friendly, if
not more than others.
Being with him was the easy part. Getting the works for his
journey wasn’t. A great deal of search and research was needed
to get Raja onto the truck for his trip back home. The kind help
of many philanthropists and animal lovers of Bangalore helped us
make the trip happen. We bow our heads to all those who have
contributed their might in helping Raja.
