INGREDIENTS

Urad Dal
Rice
Jaggery ( grated )
Cardomom Powder
Nutmeg
Mace
Soda Bi Carb
Water
Lemon Yellow Colour
 

150 Grams

250 Grams
1 Tea Spoon
1/2 Pinch
1/2 Pinch
1 Tea Spoon
1.5 Cup
1 Pinch

METHOD

1. Soak dal and rice seperately for about four hours.
2. Grind dal into fine paste.
3. Grind the rice coarsely.
4. Soak the jaggery in the 1.5 cup water till it gets dissolved then strain it.
5. Mix dal paste, rice paste, jaggery water and make a thick batter.
6. Add soda in the above batter and keep aside for 5-6 hours in the warm place till it is light & frothy.
7. Add Cardomom powder, nutmeg & Mace powder into above batter and cook the idlies in the idli cooker.
8. Serve hot
