The handicrafts of Rajasthan are incomparable. Even the simplest of objects has an appealing form. People from the world over call Rajasthan a treasure house of handicrafts and a shopper's paradise. Mentioned below are a variety of handicraft products keeping in mind the arts and crafts of a rich legacy connected with Rajasthan.

BLUE POTTERY :
The traditional colours used are blue and white. Some of the pottery are semi-translucent. The best pieces are hand painted with floral or arabesque patterns and sometimes with figures of animals. Besides traditional articles like surahis, pots and cylindrical jars, other items include ash trays, tiles, flower pots, lamp stands,

beads, earrings, soap dishes, jugs and mugs. Price ranges from Rs.25/- onwards.

PAINTINGS : Rajasthan has carved a niche for itself in the arena of painting. Rajasthan's fascinating miniature paintings are renowned the world over (below left).

MINIATURE PAINTING : The medieval miniature paintings vividly render hills, valleys, gardens, palaces, court scenes, deserts and religious processions. Available on silk, paper and marble, the prices range from Rs.50/- to Rs.5000/- (above right).

MURALS :

All over Rajasthan, one can see brightly coloured murals. These murals, done in the folk art style, depict processions, battles and folk deities and have been rendered in miniature style. Available on canvas and silk, prices ranging from Rs.500/- onwards

PICHWAI PAINTINGS :

The Pichwais are cloth paintings. These Pichwais depicting Lord Krishna, as Shrinathji in different moods with Radha and Gopis. Painted in dark rich hues. Available on silk and synthetic silk, prices ranging from Rs.200/- onwards.

METALWARE :


The metalware of Rajasthan comprises of artistic brass work, enamelled, engraved and filigree cut work on silver. Traditional silver articles like 'handas', spice bottles, baskets and trays are popular overseas. 'Badlas' or water carriers made of zinc, white metal tea sets and vases are also popular. Products are available in required sizes and prices ranging from Rs.200/- onwards.

STONES :

A large variety of figures of gods and goddesses as well as animal and human figures are available in white marble and green soft stone. Utilities like coasters, paper weights, pen stands, jewellery boxes and decorative wall plates with inlay work with semi-precious stones are available with the prices ranging from Rs.75/- onwards.

LEATHER WARE :

Leather ware is available in embroidered, stiched and various eye-catching designs and articulate boxes, lamp shades (with gold embossing), surais and sofa backs ranging from Rs.500/- onwards.

TOYS AND DOLLS :

Toys such as elephants, horses and puppets are made of stuffed clothes decorated with tinsel or embroidered cloth which are brilliantly coloured. Also available are birds, animals and dolls of bride and bridegroom stuffed in cloth ranging from Rs.300/- to Rs.1500/-.

SANDALWOOD :

Sandalwood carving comes in a range of objects and themes ranging from tiny camels, elephants, god figures to keychains, paper knives and trinket boxes in a wide variety and selection. The price ranges for smaller items from Rs.15/- onwards and for the bigger figures upto Rs.10000/-.

 

INLAID WOOD :

The art of inlay enhaces the natural sheen of wood by juxtaposing it with other material. Products ranging from jewellery boxes in circular, oval and square table tops and wooden screens are available in teak, shisham and whitewood ranging from Rs.150/- to Rs.7500/-
SELF ADORNMENT JEWELLERY :

Some of the most charming handicrafts jewellery comes from Rajasthan with a unique style. Rural women prefer chunky silver jewellery, whereas the urban woman have a penchant for gold. Traditional adornments are timaniya, bajerband, gajra, gokhru etc.

PRECIOUS AND SEMI-PRECIOUS STONES :

At our showroom a wide range of precious and semi-precious stones are available, also set in jewellery. Meenakari, is the art of enamelling on gold and silver colour like blue, green and red are mostly used. Items like spoons, boxes, decorative show pieces are available. Kundan is the art of setting precious stones in gold. Kundan jewellery is exclusive both in terms of design and workmanship. Rings, earrings and necklaces are just a few of the many kundan products at the showroom.

CARPETS / NAMDAS / DURRIES :

Rajasthan is also known for its carpets with basically persion and caucassion design. Popular are namdas, durries in hard woven cotton. BLOCK PRINTING FABRIC / TIE AND DYE / MIRROR WORK AND EMBROIDERY, APPLIQUE WORK :

Block printing, tie and dye bandhani Kota doria sarees, mirror work and embroidery, Applique work are the varties of fabrics of Rajasthan. Skirts, sarees, kerchiefs, quilts, bed covers, Lahariya sarees, turbans and wall hangings are the fabric products stacked at our counters price ranges from Rs.250/- per sari.

WOODEN AND METAL PLATED FURNITURE :

The Furniture of Rajasthan is in harmony with its palaces and havelis, displaying similar intricate design and carving. Painted furniture such as screens, doors, traditional caskets, low tables and chairs. Special wooden carving with white metal plated furniture such as chairs, tables, boxes, animal .

figurines and cupboards.
