METHOD

1.Cook the dals together in a litre of water and keep aside.
2.Grind coriander seeds, cummin seeds, red chillies, turmeric powder, cinnamon sticks, pepper corns, cloves, garlic, ginger and coriander leaves into a smooth paste and keep aside.
3.Heat ghee in a saucepan and fry till it turns light brown.
4.Add the paste, mix well with the onions and cook for 3-4 minutes.
5.Add tomatoes and mix well and cook for 5 minutes so that the tomatoes are done.
6.Add dal (vide 1) and salt to taste; stir the ingredients together. Cook for 5 more minutes, shut off the flame, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
