Acharya Shri Sthul Bhadra Surishwarji Maharaj has been in the south for the last 8 years. He has been crowned with the title of Dakshin Kesri for the very reason that he was instrumental for the full fledged construction of 28 temples in South India. The most notable among them being the Nakoda Avanti 108 Parashwanath jain tirth dham at Devanhally, a distance of 38 kms from Bangalore on a sprawling area of 13 acres. He has been the main source of inspiration in the construction of this temple which is the biggest Jain temple in India. The construction work is been done under the guidance of the young and dynamic saint Shri Chandesh Vijayji Maharaj. The main temple is in the center with the statue of Lord Parashwanath in Padma Samast mudra having a height of 83" and also that of Lord Avanti Parashwanath is 90" in height. Apart from this there are 108 temple surrounding the main temple all of different forms of Lord Parashwanath in nine different stones. Apart from this there are the "Navgraha" temples. The work on this project stated in the year 1991 and is to be completed by 1999. The construction of this temple is in the Dravidian style with a blend of South Indian Architecture and semblance to architecture of temples in Gujrat and Rajasthan. A labour force of 700 people are working every day in different parts of the country to complete the project. After completion this temple will have a full fledged library and a garden which will enhance ones spiritual strength.
At a distance of about 11 km a hill has been adopted for the construction of a temple dedicated to the 1st Tirthankar Lord Adinath and has been named a Siddichal Sthul Bhadra Vihar.
H.H.Acharya Shri Sthul Bhader Surishwarji Maharaj accepted the path of a monk at the age of 8 with the blessings of his guru Shri Labdhi Vikram Surishwarji Maharaj. He is now 67 years old and has been a great source of inspiration to many jain devotees.
