Jain
Yuva Sangathan
Jain Yuva Sangathan was started in the year 1988 with the
inspiration and blessing of Upadhay Shri Vishal Muni Ji Maharaj at
Ganesh Bagh in Bangalore. Since its inception Jain Yuva Sangathan
has been organising the function of the birth of Lord Mahaveer collectively
as Mahaveer Jayanthi. Wherein there is a religious discourse on Jainism
by revered Sadhus and Sadhvis (Monks and Nuns) and Cultural programmes.
This event is attented by thousands of Jains from all over Bangalore.
To start with a huge procession starts from a predetermined place
and goes through roads and lanes to the venue of Mahaveer Jayanthi
Celebration. A part of this procession are women who are decked with
colourful sarees with Kalashes on their head. A large number of
children
also participate in this mammoth procession. Add to the glory a number
of Tableaux depicting the life and times of Bhagwan Mahaveer move
through the procession. Judges are appointed to choose the best tableaux
among the multitude and the winning entries are honoured with suitable
prizes. As part of this celebration there are painting, singing and
quiz competitions based purely on the life and times as well as the
teachings of Lord Mahaveer. Again the winners of these individual
events are honoured with prizes on the day of Mahaveer Jayanthi. Along
with this, Blood donation camps, contributions to animal welfare organisations
and other charitable work are done.
The venue chosen for this year's Mahaveer Jayanthi celebrations is
in Government Arts and Science College, near Mysore bank circle (KUNDALPUR
NAGRI) birth place of Lord Mahaveer organised by Jain Yuva Sanghatan.
on 6th, 7th & 8th Cultural programmes will be there.
Mahaveer Jayanthi is a very important event for every Jain. It is
on this day that the messages of Lord Mahaveer can be given a great
thrust.
