Ask any woman which aspect of her appearance she would like most to change and chances are she would opt for a new head of hair. Straight haired woman would readily change their swinging bobs for a head full of corkscrew curls. Blondes will insist that they would have more fun as redheads, and those with hair will claim their lives would improve with a halo of golden tresses.

When it comes to hair, you actually don't have to settle for what nature has given you. All it takes is a little knowledge, a lot of confidence and in certain instance a little advice and help of a professional.

Know Your Hair Type :
Although no two people have exactly the same sort of hair, the majority fall into one of three main categories used to classify hair types. These come under the headings of dry, greasy and normal.

Dry hair feels
to the touch and lacks shine and glow. In severe cases it may become almost straw like in appearance, and tend to break and split. Naturally dry hair lacks the moisture necessary to keep hair in soft silky condition and it is often associated with dry skin. More often than not, however dry hair is the result of bad treatment. External factors are the main culprit. These include too much heat and over processing as a result of bleaching, tinting and perming.

For dry hair regular conditioning is necessary and a weekly deep moisturizing treatment is recommended. If you suffer from split ends, have them cut off as soon as possible. Otherwise the split may continue along the entire length of the hair.

Greasy hair presents a set of different problems. The condition is usually due to internal rather than external factors. Greasy hair requires frequent washing with a mild shampoo to remove the excess oil produced by the sub cutaneous glands.

Greasy hairs should only be brushed or combed when necessary. Playing with the hair or rubbing the scalp should be avoided, since these only serve to stimulate the oil producing glands. Greasy hair often becomes lank and oily within a day of washing, so a dry shampoo in spray or powder form is sensible solution. These shampoos soak up the excess oil and dirt.
If you wash your hair daily, apply shampoo only once. The hair requires a certain amount of natural oil if it is to stay healthy and elastic.
