Aralikatte, the master puppeteer, is the desciple of Shri. MR.. Ranganath Rao, a well known name in the field of puppetry. "Putthali Kalaranga" founded by Datta, has carved out a niche for itself in the
world of puppetry in India. Datta, the son of late Shri. Rama Rao Aralikatte, a
freedom fighter, hails from Aralikatte, near Shringeri in Chickmagalore District of Karnataka State. Datta was chosen by the Karnataka Janapada and Yakshagana Academy for its Annual award for 1996. He has also been
honoured by Directorate of State Educational Research & Training (DSERT) for using "Puppetry as an educational aid." He has participated in several puppet festivals and
seminars held all over India. The prestigeous Centre for Cultural Research and Training (CCRT) "Best Teacher Award" for 1996 has been a feather in his cap. His name is included in world puppeteers encyclopedia
